Good news for innovation in Europe: Better late than never.
You can follow this news in thepharmaletter.com: “The European Parliament gave its consent last week for a common European Union patent system to be created using the enhanced cooperation procedure, by a vote of 471 to 160, with 42 abstentions”.
Finally, only English, French and German will be allowed. Because of that, the Spanish Government has not signed this central patent system. However, although it has been good to fight hard in order to obtain some recognition of Spanish within the EU, now, after the battle or the defeat, it would probably better to be pragmatic and to accept the final agreement. Whatever the final conditions, Spain cannot afford to be out of the European patent.
